The overall objective of all our educational programs is to provide students with the knowledge and skills that will allow them to be effective in analyzing social behaviors and interpreting their meanings and implications, both for themselves and for the institutions and businesses that will employ them.
At the University of Wisconsin, the Department of Rural Sociology is part of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, and the Department of Sociology is located in the College of Letters and Sciences. These sister departments are closely allied and share many programs and courses.
